HOW TO EMBRACE WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE HOLIDAYS

With the holiday season in full swing, trays of cookies are likely being brought to your office and pumpkin pies are likely being made in your own home. And with all of these sweet treats around, the only thing that you’re going to gain this holiday season is a few extra numbers on the scale. If you are like most people and are worried about gaining some holiday weight, embrace your weight loss this season with these tips.

Just One Bite

If warm gingerbread cookies are your weakness and your house is wafting in its fragrance, then you might be pushing yourself too hard to completely back away from these treats. Instead, treat yourself to just one bite of your favorite treat— and make sure to savor it too! Just make sure that you stick to this rule and don’t go back for a second, third, and fourth bite.

Get Family and Friends on Board

If you’re on a weightloss journey by yourself, it can sometimes feel more lonely than anything. However, if you encourage your family and friends to hop on board, you can rely on each other for extra support and help through the holiday season. Plus, if everyone is trying to lose weight, then you can easily stock up on healthy food and snacks for every holiday party.

Keep Moving

Rather than opting to watch yet another rerun of your favorite Christmas movie, get yourself outdoors and doing something active. Nothing will get your heart rate up quite like winter sports, including: snowshoeing, ice skating, sledding, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, or even snowboarding. If you’re not one to enjoy winter sports, make sure that you’re getting at least 30 minutes of exercise 3 times a week— this will really help you curb cravings and keep your weight under control.
