Hormone Pellet Therapy
Hormones are an often-overlooked part of aging.
Declining hormone levels can lead to a variety of unwanted health problems because they control most body functions — including energy levels, weight management, mental clarity, the ability to maintain bone and muscle mass, and libido.
As opposed to regulating hormones through patches, creams, and pills (which can cause hormone levels to rise and fall, resulting in mood and energy swings), Alison Wellness Clinic offers a more effective method for regulating your hormones — BioTE®hormone replacement pellets.

BioTE®hormone replacement pellets.
This hormone therapy provides sustained hormone levels throughout the day for three to five months, all delivered in a tiny pellet placed in the fatty tissue beneath the skin. When placed under the skin they consistently release small, physiologic doses optimally.
BioTE® pellets are made by fusing estrogen or testosterone into small cylinders, some of which are smaller than a grain of rice. With hormone pellet therapy at Alison Wellness, we then place the pellet in the fatty tissue just beneath the skin. By being always available, this placement closely mimics the actions of healthy ovaries and testicles in the way hormones are released into the bloodstream. The pellet insertion is quick and easy right in our Huntsville office. The dosage is unique to you.
Just as every one of our patients is unique, so is their BioTE® dosage. We perform a comprehensive BioTE® bloodwork analysis to determine where your hormone levels are and where they need to be. We then provide you with the pellet size and makeup that is right for you.
Who says you need to give in to the moodiness, anxiety, sleep disruptions, declining interest in sex, and the other problems related to hormone imbalances? Let the team at Alison Wellness Clinic put BioTE® hormone pellet therapy to work for you.

What is the difference between BioTE® Hormone Therapy for men and women?
What is BioTE®?
BioTE® is a Bio-Identical form of hormone therapy that seeks to return the hormone balance to youthful levels in men and women.
How do I know if I'm a candidate for pellets?
Symptoms may vary widely from depression and anxiety to night sweats and sleeplessness for example. You will need to have blood work done, which will determine your hormone levels. Once the doctor reviews and determines you are a candidate, we will schedule an appointment for insertion.
Do I have blood work done before each treatment?
No, only initially and 4-6 weeks later to set your dosing. You may have it done again if there are significant changes.
What are the pellets made from?
They are made from wild yams and soy. Wild yams and soy have the highest concentration of hormones of any substance. There are no known allergens associated with wild yam and soy, because once the hormone is made, it is no longer yam or soy.
Is the therapy FDA approved?
What the pellets are made of is FDA approved and regulated, the process of making pellets is regulated by the State Pharmacy Board, and the distribution is regulated by the DEA and Respective State Pharmacy Boards. The PROCEDURE of placing the pellets is NOT an FDA approved procedure. The pellets are derived from wild yams and soy, and are all natural and bio-identical. Meaning they are the exact replication of what the body makes.
How are they administered?
Your practitioner will implant the pellets in the fat under the skin of the hip. A small incision is made in the hip. The pellets are inserted. No stitch is required.
Does it matter if I'm on birth control?
No, the doctor can determine what your hormone needs are even if you are on birth control.
Are there any side effects?
The majority of side effects is temporary and typically only happens on the first dose. All are very treatable. There are no serious side effects.
What if I'm already on HRT of some sort like creams, patches, pills?
This is an easy transition. The doctor will be able to determine your needs even though you may be currently taking these other forms of HRT.
What if I've had breast cancer?
Breast cancer survivors and/or those who have a history of breast cancer in their family may still be a candidate, however, this is to be determined by the physician. You should schedule a consultation with the Doctor.
How long will the treatment last?
Every 3-6 months depending on the person. Typically 3 1/2 months for females and 5 1/2 months for males. Everyone is different, so it depends on how you feel and what the doctor determines is right for you. If you are really active, you are under a lot of stress, or it is extremely hot, your treatment may not last as long. Absorption rate is based on cardiac output.
What is the cost?
Female Pellet Insertion fee is $350 and Male fee is $700.
